National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NIT Warangal or NITW) is a public engineering college situated in Telangana. NIT Warangal was formerly known as Regional Engineering College and was renamed as the National Institute of Technology, Warangal in 2002. The same year, NIT Warangal was also granted Deemed University status. NITW is the first one in the chain of thirty-one NITs in India. The foundation stone of NIT Warangal was laid by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru on 10th October 1959. The institute is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Indian Government.

According to the Outlook Survey of 2015, NIT Warangal holds the eleventh rank among all technical institutes of the country. The beautiful campus of NIT Warangal is spread over 256 acres of land. The road network in the campus runs to a length of twelve kilometers. The institute provides many facilities to its students. It has an administrative Building, Academic Buildings, Girls’ and Boys’ Hostels, Sports Facility, Guest House, Bank and ATM, Conference Hall, Incubation Centre, Engineering Unit, Library, Transport Facility, Post Office, Canteen, Shopping Complex and the list goes on. It is almost as if the students of NIT Warangal don’t ever have to go out for anything because they are provided with almost every daily necessity right on the campus. 

Like all NITs, NIT Warangal is also a residential college. It has twenty hostels for men and two for women. The hostels of NITW can accommodate up to 3355 students of the institute. It has five messes that provide the best quality of food to its students. NITW is known for its dedicated faculty and staff and aims at achieving higher levels of technical excellence. The college offers 53 courses under five undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. NIT Warangal is best known for its courses in B.Tech. To get into NITW for B.Tech, candidates have to score high in JEE Main. NIT Warangal provides one of the best placement services of all the technical institutes in the country. Alumni of the institute are at enviable positions and are associated with celebrated names all over the world.
